A face care routine: why do it simple!
Maybe you've already tested a thousand things to improve your skin. A cleansing foam, a moisturizing serum, another for shine, a night cream, an exfoliant, a mask, a essence, an eye contour... And in spite of all this, your skin pulls, shines, buds or blushes.
It's frustrating. You do everything you need, but your skin seems to tell you the other way around.
The truth is, the best routine facial care is not necessarily the most complete. Often, the skin prefers regularity to accumulation. She likes sweetness. She likes stability. And above all, it often works better when you stop overloading it.
This is exactly the philosophy that I apply with my products: go back to the essential, with simple, well formulated, pleasant to use treatments, and designed to help the skin regain comfort without complicated routines.
Why too heavy a facial routine can unbalance your skin
It is often referred to as active, glow, anti-imperfection or rapidly visible results. But you sometimes forget one simple thing: your skin doesn't need to be constantly stimulated.
It already has its own equilibrium mechanisms. It is based on two essential elements:
- its protective barrier, also called hydrolipidic film;
- its microbiome, i.e. all the microorganisms involved in its balance.
When you multiply cleanings, exfoliants, powerful assets and routine changes, you can disrupt that balance. The skin becomes more reactive. She's pulling more. It sometimes produces more sebum to compensate. It can become uncomfortable, even if it is mixed or fat.
This is often where the vicious circle begins: You see your skin react, so you add a new product to fix the problem... which was sometimes created by the routine itself.
The 5 common mistakes in a long facial routine
1. Clean too often or too loud
When you clean your skin morning and night with aggressive products, or use too hot water, you can weaken its protective barrier. The result: your skin pulls, heats, blushes, or shines even more.
One routine facial care effective starts with a gentle cleaning. Not a stripping.
2. Multiply assets without logic
Exfoliating acids, retinoids, vitamin C, niacinamide, purifying serums, soothing serums... To want to treat everything at the same time, you tire the skin more than you help.
The skin loves consistency. A major need. A clear answer. And time to watch.
3. Exfoliate too often
When the skin appears dull or irregular, you can be tempted to erase, smooth, polish. However, too frequent exfoliation can increase redness, sensitivity and imperfections.
Fragile skin doesn't need more. She needs us to stop attacking her.
4. Accumulate INCI forms and lists
The more steps you add, the more ingredients, preservatives, perfumes and the risk of discomfort. It's not systematic, of course. But sensitive or uncomfortable skin often tolerates a short routine better than an overloaded routine.
5. Change continuously
One routine facial care does not always give a spectacular result in three days. If you change everything as soon as your skin spreads, you never give it time to stabilize.
Consistency often does more than accumulation.
What your skin really likes every day
Your skin likes simple gestures. She likes regular habits. She likes to keep her pace.
In practice, this means:
- clean without stripping;
- feeding or balancing with appropriate care;
- protect the skin by day.
It's not much.. But when it is well chosen, it is often largely sufficient.
It's also a more realistic way to take care of yourself. A short routine is held in time. It fits into real life. It becomes a pleasant moment, not another constraint.
My simple and effective 3-step facial routine
Here's the routine facial care that I advise you if you want to return to something softer, more consistent, and more respectful of your skin.
1. Gently clean
In the evening, it is necessary to remove impurities, sweating, dust and possibly light makeup. In the morning, cleaning can be useful depending on your skin type and feeling, but it is not always indispensable.
I like to recommend a cold saponified soap for this step, because it simply cleans, without turning washing into aggression. Cold saponification allows natural preservation of the glycerin formed during manufacture, which brings more softness to the washing.
Depending on your need, you can either:
Honey–Cameline
It's my sweet soap par excellence for the face. I'm making it with the camline oil from the farm. I especially like it when the skin becomes reactive, when it pulls easily or when it needs comfort. Honey also brings a real feeling of sweetness.
My Capris
This is a nice option for a routine facial care simple, soft and comfortable, when you want a pleasant soap to use daily, without overloading your skin.
Geranium–Jojoba
I recommend it more to mixed to fat skins, or to skins that need a gentle but balancing cleaning. It helps to regain a feeling of clean skin without looking to "decaper".
2. Feed or balance with a few drops of oil
After cleaning, the skin needs comfort. This is where a well chosen care oil can make all the difference.
You don't need to put a lot on. Three to four drops are enough on still slightly moist skin. The gesture is simple, fast, and often very effective.
I particularly like vegetable oils for this stage, because they go to the essential. They feed, soften, protect, without multiplying unnecessary layers.
In my vision of a routine facial care Two profiles are particularly interesting:
Hemp oil
It is precious when the skin lacks balance. I appreciate it for its pleasant touch and its interesting profile for skins that are uncomfortable, sensitive or prone to reactions.
Wheat germ oil
It is rich in vitamin E and brings a real feeling of nutrition. I find it interesting when the skin seems tired, rough, or lacks flexibility.
3. Protect the skin in the day
The last step of a good one routine facial careIt's sun protection. Miracle serum is often sought, while daily protection remains one of the most useful gestures to preserve skin comfort and balance.
No need to complicate. A protection adapted to your skin. And that's it.
What about double cleaning in all this?
Double cleaning is not an obligation. It can be useful on the evenings when you wear a tenacious makeup or a very resistant sun protection. In this case, you can first use a fatty body, like a cleansing oil, then clean with a mild soap.
In the morning, however, this is usually not necessary. No need to transform your routine facial care in heavy protocol if your skin doesn't need it.
When to add a step to your face care routine
A simple routine does not mean that all complementary care must be banned. It just means that we need to integrate them logically.
You can add a step if you have a specific need, but keep this principle: one goal at a time.
For example:
- a serum targeted for a primary need;
- mild exfoliation once a week maximum if your skin tolerates it;
- a short cure, followed by a pause to observe.
The important thing is not to stack. Uncomfortable skin doesn't need more. She needs us to do better.
Why I love short routines so much
I like short routines because they are more realistic. They adapt to real life. They avoid turning care into mental care. And above all, they give more room to listen to the skin.
My vision of care is not to sell ten products to occupy your shelf. I prefer to offer you useful, pleasant, consistent products that help to restore a more comfortable skin without complicated routine.
That's also why I work from oils that I really know. Some come directly from the farm. This connection to the real matter a lot to me. I know where my raw materials come from. I know why I choose them. And I like to propose a routine facial care which remains honest, simple and effective.
The best facial routine is not necessarily the longest
It is sometimes felt that a beautiful skin takes a lot of time, a lot of products, a lot of expertise. In reality, your skin often demands the opposite: less restlessness, less confusion, more softness.
Good cleaning. A suitable treatment. Solar protection. This base is often enough to regain more comfort, more flexibility and a more serene skin.
If you feel that your skin is pulling, shining, blushing or rebelling, the solution is not always to add a step. Sometimes the real solution is to return to a routine facial care simpler.
My product selection for a short and effective facial routine
If you want to build a simple routine with my care, here's how I advise you to start:
For sensitive or reactive skin
- Honey–Cameline Soap
- a soft and comfortable care oil
- sun protection adapted in the morning
For all skin types
- Soap My Capris
- a few drops of care oil on slightly moist skin
- sun protection during the day
For mixed to fat skin
- Soap Geranium–Jojoba

The idea is not to do too much. The idea is to finally have a routine that you can hold, and that your skin really likes.
Remember for your face care routine
Your skin wants predictability.
She wants constant gestures.
She wants us to respect her more than we correct her.
One routine facial care Simple, with well formulated mild soap, adapted oil and sun protection, can be enough to transform your daily life.
And if you want this moment to become a real parenthesis, not just a checkbox, you can also make it a little wellness ritual. Sweet light. A quieter breath. A scented candle lit for a few minutes. Because simplicity can also be very sensory.
